9 Activities for kids to do in the Woods

Fingers crossed your kids will want to explore, and play, and find their own fun way to interact with all that abundance of nature. In case they need a little prompt, you could try:

  • Using sticks to draw in the mud
  • Playing Hide and Seek
  • Racing sticks down a stream
  • Hunting for animal tracks
  • Catching falling leaves
  • Hugging a tree
  • Balancing on logs
  • Climbing trees.

Top tip! Kids LOVE it when we get involved. Jump up on that log, balance on the tree, use a stick to dig around in the mud!

Or, if you want something a little more structured, you could:

Build a house from sticks

Use some small, bendy sticks, and weave them together to make a little house.

Make Musical Instruments

You could fill a bottle with stones or twigs to be a shaker, bang sticks together, thread some shells through string, or see how else you can make sounds in the woods.

Make Forest Potions

If you've got a little container with you, then gather ingredients from the woods, and mix them all up to make a potion. (Don't let anyone drink it. Obviously).
