Check out these things to do with the kids in Carmarthenshire /Sir Gaerfyrddin, whether it's building sancastles at Pendine Sands, or letting off steam at Llyn Llech Owain, I've got you covered, and best of all it's free!
I'm still adding to this list, so keep checking back, please get in touch if you've got any hidden gems to recommend, or if you have a picture to replace any that I'm missing (ie the places that have words). As a thank you, I'll send a 20% money off voucher to spend in the shop for anything that gets used.
I've tried to make sure that all the details on here are up to date, but please do double check on the websites I've linked to before you travel in case anything has changed. Although I'd love to be able to travel to every place on here, time and practicalities dictate that I've sourced a lot of information from 3rd parties so some information might be incorrect (Please let me know if you spot anything that is so that I can amend it).
Especially important: double check parking costs to avoid any nasty surprises on a day out that was supposed to be cheap, and obviously, be careful if you're visiting places with kids, especially where the terrain is dangerous (ruins, cliffs, beaches, slippy paths etc).
Happy adventuring!
Not for the faint hearted (or young kids probably as it can be a bit steep and dangerous), to walk all 4 waterfalls is 5.5miles, in stunning environments, and uneven terrain. Hiking boots are recommended to cope with the slippy paths. Your efforts will be rewarded with amazing scenery.
A 7 mile stretch of sandy beach, famous for being allowed to drive onto it (certain times of the year), and the setting of historic land speed records. Head west for great rock-pooling. There's also a new playground. The Museum of Speed is now open (entry fee applies).
A charming village on the border of 3 counties, it's focus is a series of small waterfalls and pools on the river, and a salmon leap. There's also a coracle museum set in a 13th century flour mill (I think this has an entry fee).
A big sandy beach, (please note, it's dangerous for swimming in places due to rip tides) forest walk, a play area and the ruins of an impressive castle. While you're there, check out St Anthony's Well, a place of healing since the 6th century.
Set in impressive grounds, and with plenty to keep kids entertained including a family discovery room. There's 2 floors worth of local history to learn including Victorian times, and mining communities.
The ruins of the castle which was completed in 1349, and then plundered in 1700. While you're there, you can also play in the King George V playing grounds and take a stroll around the charming, historic market town with the heritage trail app.
180 acres of nature including a lake, which is surrounded by a peat bog. There's also heathland, woodland, trails, a visitor centre, bird watching huts, and a playground.
Reopening in summer 2023 with new family friendly displays. Learn all about local history, and explore the beautiful gardens, with lots for kids to do.
You know what the kids would love to be filling in as you're exploring new places? An epic activity pack! And it should be filled with easy activity ideas, and stickers, and personalised!
