Check out these things to do with the kids in Denbighshire / Sir Ddinbych, whether it's making sandcastles at Rhyl Beach, or letting off steam at Rhuddlan Nature Reserve, I've got you covered, and best of all it's free!
I'm still adding to this list, so keep checking back, please get in touch if you've got any hidden gems to recommend, or if you have a picture to replace any that I'm missing (ie the places that have words). As a thank you, I'll send a 20% money off voucher to spend in the shop for anything that gets used.
I've tried to make sure that all the details on here are up to date, but please do double check on the websites I've linked to before you travel in case anything has changed. Although I'd love to be able to travel to every place on here, time and practicalities dictate that I've sourced a lot of information from 3rd parties so some information might be incorrect (Please let me know if you spot anything that is so that I can amend it).
Especially important: double check parking costs to avoid any nasty surprises on a day out that was supposed to be cheap, and obviously, be careful if you're visiting places with kids, especially where the terrain is dangerous (ruins, cliffs, beaches, slippy paths etc).
Happy adventuring!
The walk up the hill requires a decent bit of puff, but the vies from the summit will be fair reward. The ruins are from a castle built in the 13th century. While you're in the town, check out the river and see if you can spot the heron.
A weir with lovely views, the perfect place for a picnic. There's also a meadow nearby to play in. Donwload the map from the website before you go so you can see how best to link it up with the other local sights at Llangollen including the free museum.
A 4 mile long sandy beach, with good walks nearby since it forms part of the North Wales Coast Path. There's a play area, and a seasonal lifeguard service.
A 2 mile sandy beach, stretching from Clwyd Estuary to Splash Point. It's popular with those wishing to paddle, swim, sea fishing, surfing and kite surfing. A seasonal lifeguard service is provided.
A small museum packed with artefacts and information about the local area and the people who have lived there.
Small but well preserved ancient ruins, hidden in the middle of a residential road, there is an information board to give you some history. While you're in Prestatyn, you could also check out the Roman helmet scultpure.
A small but lovely wildlife haven, a short walk takes you around the pond where birds nest, and meadows. There are wooden sculptures dotted about, and picnic benches.
Beautiful gardens with tennis courts, a cafe, a fish pond, a kids play ground and plenty of open space to play.
You know what the kids would love to be filling in as you're exploring new places? An epic activity pack! And it should be filled with easy activity ideas, and stickers, and personalised!
