7 Free Days Out and Things to Do With Kids in Newport (Casnewydd)

Especially important: double check parking costs to avoid any nasty surprises on a day out that was supposed to be cheap, and obviously, be careful if you're visiting places with kids, especially where the terrain is dangerous (ruins, cliffs, beaches, slippy paths etc).

Learn all about life for a Roman soldier at the fortress they built in Caerleon. At weekends and school holidays, kids can step back in time in the barrack room, and Roman garden. Walk through beautiful ancient woodland, heathland, moorland, and parkland. Keep your eyes peeled for animals including deer, goshawk, lizards, and bats.

Visit the group who are working to conserve a 15th century merchant vessel, unearthered in Newport in 2002. Learn some local history, with kid friendly activities.
