I've tried to make sure that all the details on here are up to date, but please do double check on the websites I've linked to before you travel in case anything has changed. Although I'd love to be able to travel to every place on here, time and practicalities dictate that I've sourced a lot of information from 3rd parties so some information might be incorrect (Please let me know if you spot anything that is so that I can amend it).
Especially important: double check parking costs to avoid any nasty surprises on a day out that was supposed to be cheap, and obviously, be careful if you're visiting places with kids, especially where the terrain is dangerous (ruins, cliffs, beaches, slippy paths etc).

500 acres of glacial mountains and crags, meadows, woodland, moorland, and cliffs. Keep an eye out for peregrine falcons, and ravens. There are 2 play areas, one for toddlers, and a large adventure playground for older kids. If you like biking, check out the Gravity Family Bike Park.
Trails leading into the mountains, a duck lake, forest, open space, waterfalls, rivers, and an adventure playground. Great for walking or cycling, and picnics.
Learn about local history with this community run museum, from prehistoric to present times. Kids can follow Dylan the Dragon's fun trails, or create in the Cwtch craft corner.

A Victorian park, with a boating lake, adventure playground, and lots of open space to burn off some energy.
Please note - the thermal spring is currently closed, but the park remains open, with a playground, tennis courts, and plenty of open space.
An Edwardian Park with a lake, and ancient woodland. There are lots of trails to follow, a recreation area, and a playground.
An oasis for wildlife on the old site of a coal mine. There are 2 lakes, as well as waterfalls, and plenty of nature to spot as you take a stroll.
Learn the remarkable history of this ancient hilltop town. There's plenty to keep the kids entertained including interactive displays, treasure hunts, dressing up and competitions. It's open Thursday - Saturday 10am - 4pm.
