I've tried to make sure that all the details on here are up to date, but please do double check on the websites I've linked to before you travel in case anything has changed. Although I'd love to be able to travel to every place on here, time and practicalities dictate that I've sourced a lot of information from 3rd parties so some information might be incorrect (Please let me know if you spot anything that is so that I can amend it).
Especially important: double check parking costs to avoid any nasty surprises on a day out that was supposed to be cheap, and obviously, be careful if you're visiting places with kids, especially where the terrain is dangerous (ruins, cliffs, beaches, slippy paths etc).

A large park with 2 playgrounds, picnic areas, and lots of beautiful walks in woods or round the water. They often hold activities during school holidays.
Housed in the 17th century markethall, it taeches local history. Highlights include the museum bear, an observatin beehive and a Plesiosaur skeleton.
An exhibition displaying objects from one of the most investigated Roman small towns in the country, with a range of hands on activities for families.
A gallery and museum with lots to keep the kids engaged including a family gallery, a family treasure trail, and holiday and toddler activities.

Home to 80 rescued horses, donkeys and ponies. Entry is free, but donations are welcome so that this charity can keep helping the animals.
A beautiful historic landscape with walks around the lake. There's also a playground, a trim trail, and picnic areas. You can walk to Kenilworth castle from here (there's an entry fee).
Rolling hills with magnificent views. Take a stroll along the rugged hilltops, and through Fox Covert (a small woodland).
600 acres of country park including 15 lakes. Take a stroll around the paths. There are lots of paid for attractions including a children's farm, and a miniataure railway.
