You’ve seen the headlines. ‘Single Mother dares to complain’ clickbait. As soon as the hounds get a whiff, they are off, teeth bared, yapping away, eager for the kill.

“Why did she have kids if she can’t afford them?”

“I bet she doesn’t even know who the father is.”

“She wants to sit around at the taxpayers' expense.”

You can be certain that none of those commenting have bothered to read the article before they start yapping all their ‘don’t breed if you can’t feed’, or ‘should have kept her knickers on’ nonsense. The narrative they have decided based on a handful of words is that the woman is fraudulently claiming benefits, has never worked a day in her life and must be hunted down.

We know that all those cliches are absolute bullsh*t.

The accompanying screenshots are Facebook comments displayed below a linked article about a woman who had lived in south London all of her life, had been forced into emergency council housing because gentrification had driven rent prices in the area too high.

The flat the council had provided for her and her children was not in a suitable condition for people to live in. Nowhere in the article did it say that she was unemployed. The fact that she’d paid rent privately for a decade would suggest otherwise.

Of course, the hound dogs did not bother to read any of that before they started ripping her apart.

Then, because she’s black, they unleashed an avalanche of racism.


Ladies. Shout it proud and shout it loud. “FUCK YOU”. To the hound dogs, to the shitty publications that write this clickbait, and to the entire quagmire of capitalism and patriarchy that creates the environment where sh*tty people think it’s ok to treat others like this.

If you’re angry (and I hope you are), I highly recommend dancing around to Big Mama Thornton singing hound dog. Growl along with her, cos it’s true. All those racist, bigoted, narrow-minded losers are nothing but hound dogs, doing their master’s bidding.
 

And then, I recommend that you check out the great work that Acorn is doing to work towards decent housing for working-class people, among other things. It’s only by working together that we’ll be able to shut up those bloody hounds up once and for all.
